Costume
This is a regency ball with the intention of looking ‘period appropriate’, in the same way as Reign looks ‘period appropriate’ for the Tudors, or as Casanova looks for 18th Century Venice. If you do not have the perfect Elizabeth Bennet cosplay, complete with 3 inches of mud on the hem, please come in your closest approximation - a neat suit or an empire-line long dress are perfectly suitable!
This is a fantasy version of Regency England and players should feel free to adapt or elaborate on the fashions of the time. Ideally poorer characters would have physical indications of the reduced circumstances - smaller jewellery, faded or turned fabric, while the richer ones would show off their wealth - large jewellery, ostrich feathers, brighter newer fabric.
It is likely that characters will critique clothing - please ensure such criticisms remains in IC territory. Talk about the gown being old-fashioned or the fabric of the waistcoat faded, do not talk about how the clothing is appropriate for the game or suits the player’s body.
There will be limited space to store bags and change clothing in the OC quiet area; players may arrive from 3 pm to ensure they are ready for the start of the game.
