When will bookings open? How will bookings work?
Bookings will open on Sunday 23rd May, 2021 at 12pm.
If you had a ticket for the cancelled event:
Booking will open next weekend; we will email all players with a priority booking form link.
If you did not have a ticket
We anticipate there will be some spaces for new players.
Waiting list signup will open at the same time as Priority Booking
This will not run on a first-come-first-serve basis, but will invite people on it to book based on what will fit with existing character groups. There will be a question asking about people you could form a group with also on the waiting list. If we have sufficient space, we will have a preference for choosing groups over individuals.
These forms will be live until 6th June.
We will publish a list of players and crew once we are fully booked.

How big is this LARP?
Around 60 players & 8 crew.

Is it worth getting on the waiting list if you are giving priority to cancelled players?
Yes, absolutely. We know there are cancelled players who are going to be unable to make this new date.

I'm worried my costume won't be good enough.
Your costume is almost certainly good enough! This is not a game of high historical accuracy kit standards, but one of creatively evoking the feel of the era. A puff sleeve top and a wrap skirt tight on your underbust-> fabulous! Frockcoat and empire-line dress -> amazing! Puff shirt and 3 piece suit -> Go for it!
For run one, I made dresses out of sari blouses and skirts, which you can pick up on eBay cheaply in all sizes and adapt with (clumsy) gathers and hand sewing.

Can marriages be polyamorous?
No, all marriages are between two people only. It is completely normal for romantic or sexual relationships to be polyamorous, but not marriages. The idea is likely to be completely confusing to older characters, but to younger characters (who are more inclined to conflate love and marriage) the idea would be new and potentially appealing.

Can costumes include mobility aids such as a wheelchair?
Absolutely. Players should use any accessibility aid that they need to be safe and comfortable. The last game had both a player and a NPC using wheelchairs.
Criticising someone else for using mobility aids is a breach of the behaviour rules - if you experience this, please let a ref know.

As there's no prejudice on religion, is rationalism still poorly thought of?
Rationalism exists (like all religions), the practice of it is regarded well so long as the practitioner is willing to bend it to find all of society's morals line up with moral behaviour of the belief. Small deviances (e.g. I don't drink and don't serve wine in my house, or I shave my head) are adorable and traditionally English eccentric behaviour that would find the practitioner praised for their strong moral beliefs. A large deviation (e.g. we run naked through the woods having orgies or we give all our wealth away and work our land ourselves) would be condemned for leading the youth astray.

Do hellfire clubs exist?
Hellfire clubs: Definitely exist; no-one treats them as related to religion although the behaviour of them is clearly amoral: drugs, excessive alcohol, sleeping around, wild gambling, stupid fights with the locals. I'd de-emphasize the association of paganism and have it simply be a debauched club of reckless individuals.

Can I marry someone in my group?
No - your group is your family, those whom all of society presume you can be left alone with safely. Think of this as similar to planning to marry your step-brother.

Can women be clergy or peers?
Yes, women (and non binary people) can do any profession that men could.
Will there be a difference between 'upstairs' and 'downstairs" roles
There aren't any "downstairs" PC roles. The servants will be either refs or part of the catering crew.
All players will be invited guests at the Ball, of various levels of society that range from the top end of middle class and higher.

Is adoption considered routine for heirs who marry same sex?
All marriages are expected to produce children; adoption, particularly of a close relative, is as routine as giving birth. Any children, adopted or otherwise, of either partner inherit some of fortune of the married couple.

Can you recommend places to find costumes?
Well, you can rent some cheap ones from us; many UK costume rental sites such as CompleteCostumes or Bath Theatrical Costume Hire have high quality rental costume.
If you are looking to buy, Etsy has many sellers of regency costume e.g. AnotherEraByEmma or MrsPapendick. "Bridgeton costume" and "Regency costume" should get you lots of options.
Most LARP costume designers such as Gollden Mochi will be able to create custom outfits.
Last time, Dave purchased his Mr Darcy getup from Elgar Shirts, and I made several outfits from sari outfits (instructions on the Costume page).

The rules say no discrimination on racism, but slavery still exists IC. How does that work?
It doesn't. We thank those who brought it up at the Q and A.
We have added slavery to the list of inappropriate game topics - IC the Atlantic Slave Trade didn't happen, please don't include it in your backstories and avoid talking about it at the game.
